connecticut_rose-societyRose Sunday takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21, 2015, in the Rose Garden at Elizabeth Park, 1561 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, Connecticut. All events are free.

The 34th annual show and sale by the Connecticut Rose Society will take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the Pond House at the park.

Concurrent with the show, Rose Society will be offering cut roses as well as premium potted roses for sale.

The rose garden is the center of Elizabeth Park. It is the first municipal rose garden in the United States and the third largest rose garden in the country today. Theodore Wirth began the design of the rose garden in September 1903, and it opened in June 1904. The rose garden began with about 190 varieties of roses, and this eventually grew to almost 1,000 by the 1950s.
