michigan_bloomfieldhills_cranbrookYour Road Trips Gardener had no idea there was a National Get Outdoors Day. Fortunately, the folks at Cranbrook House and Gardens, 380 Lone Pine Road, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, know all about it.

In fact they have a whole day’s celebration planned for June 13, 2015. Outdoor activities, including a yoga session, croquet, live animal presentation, and a bat house building workshop are set.

If you live nearby, perhaps you’ll be interested in learning about volunteer opportunities during Membership in Bloom from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

From 11 a.m. til noon there’ll be a free yoga session in the gardens (bring your own mat, please). Live animal presentations are on tap from 1 to 2 p.m. (bats, flying squirrels, skunks, owls).

If you’d like to build a bat house, it’ll cost $60 for the kit you’ll need during the 2 to 3 p.m. workshop. This activity is limited to the first 25 registered participants. Proceeds benefit The Organization for Bat Conservation and Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary.

Reservations are encouraged and appreciated for the Yoga Session, Membership in Bloom event, and Live Animal Presentation, and are required for the Bat House Building Workshop (go online).
