Flowers of the Day: For a Christmas Altar
White flowers with a touch of red, greenery and a few pine cones filled an urn alongside the altar of St. Peter’s Church in Melaka, Malaysia, earlier this month.
No doubt part of the Christmas decor (there was a decorated evergreen outside the front door of the church), this arrangement adorned the oldest church in town.
Although there’s a bit of a dispute about dates, it’s said that the church was constructed in 1710 to serve the Roman Catholics among the Portuguese population in this busy port.
