Flower of the Day: Cosmos

cosmosFrom its origins in southern North America, Central America and South America, this hardy field flower has spread worldwide.

These colorful blooms were growing wild along a sidewalk near downtown Steveston, Scotland, in late September.

According to Wikipedia, cosmos is a genus, with the same common name of cosmos, of about 20–26 species of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.
