highgrove_florilegiumFor five years, some of the world’s best botanical illustrators were invited by H.R.H Prince Charles of Wales to create drawings and watercolors based on the plants growing in his garden at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, England.

The resulting 124 botanical illustrations make up the Highgrove Florilegium, on display now through September 29, 2013, at the National Botanic Garden of Belgium, Nieuwelaan 38, Meise, Belgium (map).

The Highgrove Florilegium is a two-volume work completed in 2008 to record many of the plants in the garden at Highgrove. This is England’s first Royal Florilegium and each copy is signed personally by Prince Charles.

The Duchy of Cornwall owns Highgrove, and bought the house, garden and nearby farmland now known as Duchy Home Farm in 1980.
