switzerland_morges_dahlia-2013Dahlia aficionados headed to Switzerland shouldn’t miss a stop at the shoreline of Lake Geneva in Morges (map).

From now through October, some 2,250 dahlias will be in bloom between the castle and the Parc de Vertou along a promenade stretching for 1-1/2 kilometers. It’s the 17th year for the event, which features about 100 varieties of the flower.

It all culminates with a dahlia sale November 2 and 3, 2013, in the garden of the castle — but, alas, Road Trips Gardeners from the United States can’t carry the plants back home with them.
