england_munchester_bluebellsIf woodland gardens are your favorite, Road Trips Gardener, consider a trip to the British Isles between April 15 and May 15, 2013.

That’s when it will be Bluebell Heaven at Muncaster Castle and Gardens, Ravenglass, Cumbria, England (map).

Although Muncaster’s gardens are famed for their collections of exotic trees and shrubs from across the world, a highlight of springtime is to enjoy a walk through the high woodlands above the Castle when the bluebells are in flower: a sea of native bluebells spread out throughout the ancient coppice woodlands.

Other plants you’re likely to spot at this time of year: Flowering camellias, magnolias, native wild daffodils, rhododendrons and azaleas.
