“Quilts in the Garden” takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 9 through 11, 2012, in the Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha’s Botanical Center, 100 Bancroft St, Omaha, Nebraska (map).

“Experience Quilts in the Garden: Seasonal Reflections” is a weekend of “fabric, fun and flora”, featuring a display of botanically-themed quilts set against the garden’s fall chrysanthemum show.

Special exhibits include seasonal images by professional photographer, Dorothy Tuma, heirloom quilts from the International Quilt Study Center & Museum collection, and creative fiber art pieces made by the Midwest Fiber Art Alliance.

The Consignment Boutique and vendor booths will offer new and vintage quilts, fabric, patterns, fiber art, woven items and more.

A celebration of local veterans is planned at 3 p.m. November 11, 2012, with a special presentation of handmade Quilts of Valor.

This event is presented by the Lauritzen Gardens Guild; admission is $7. Tickets for opening night from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday (November 8, 2012) are $10.

Lauritzen Gardens is located just north of Interstate 80 and south of Omaha’s historic Old Market district.
