Library’s Green Roof

Gardens aren’t always on the ground.

This onea work in progress — is atop the Central Library annex in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Plants will include full sun and partial shade tolerant plants as well as ornamental grasses.

The library worked with the City of Milwaukee’s Office of Environmental Sustainability, We Energies, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and Focus on Energy to create a green roof on 30,000 square feet of the library annex.

Tours are given Mondays and Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. through the end of October.
