The annual Daffodil Show takes place March 31, 2012, and April 1, 2012, in Botanic Hall at Cheekwood Art & Gardens, 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Nashville, Tennessee (map).

Hours are 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 31, and 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1.

It’s sponsored by the Middle Tennessee Daffodil Society, but anyone with a “fabulous specimen” of a daffodil is encouraged to enter the show. Just be sure to have your entry at Cheekwood by 10 a.m. March 31.

If you’re at Cheekwood on March 31, you can also check out the Native Plant Sale. It runs from 10 a.m. “’til all plants are sold”. Needless to say, you’ve got to arrive early for the best selection of native plants such as spring-blooming trillium and celandine poppies or summer-blooming black-eyed Susans and summer phlox. Also on offer: shrubs, vines, and small trees. The sale is sponsored by the Garden Club of Nashville.

Cheekwood was once the home of the Cheek family. The 55-acre site includes the original Cheek gardens (designed by Bryant Fleming), with pools, fountains, statuary, extensive boxwood plantings and views of the rolling Tennessee hills. Cheekwood was opened to the public in 1960 and the many specialized gardens have developed since that time.
