Make plans now, Road Trips Gardeners, to head to Europe for the World Horticultural Expo.

The Floriade World Horticultural Exposition has been held in the Netherlands roughly every 10 years since 1960, and the next one takes place April 5 through October 7, 2012, in Venlo, the Netherlands.

The Floriade Park covers 66 hectares and encompasses five themed “worlds” separated by wooded areas.

This is a hallmark event. Although you certainly can visit Floriade on your own (in fact, you can buy a six-month pass), many tour companies have planned itineraries around visits to Floriade.

* Trafalgar is including full passes on two of its Holland itineraries.

* Several European itineraries on Scenic Cruises include visits to Floriade.

* Uniworld has two new 2012 itineraries showcasing Floriade.

* Ambassadair (departs from and returns to Indianapolis): March 31 through April 10, 2011. Floriade plus a Rhine River Cruise.
