World Orchid Conference
Look for a lush landscape of orchids, from contemporary exotic hybrids to the most beautiful of traditional orchid breeds. Covering an estimated 12,000 square meters and featuring 68 exhibits from 23 countries spread over six continents, the World Orchid Show promises to be a feast for the senses with exhibitors competing for 20th WOC awards.
In addition to orchid displays, the adjacent MarketPlace features floral shopping adventure with orchids, plants, landscape products, services, and arts and crafts from more than 67 vendors coming from 15 countries. Show ticket holders will also have a chance to see the new Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, well ahead of its official opening in June 2012.
The Conference component of the the 20th WOC will run over four days with a series of talks and seminars for both commercial growers and hobbyists. While international in focus, the Conference program will highlight the SE and continental Asian contribution to orchid science and cultivation.
The Show component promises an exhibition of species and hybrids from the region and beyond.
The World Orchid Conference, begun in 1954, is held every three years, so if you miss this one, you’ll have to wait ’til 2014.
