It’s a spring spectacle in eastern Tennessee each year when the dogwoods are in bloom. During the annual Dogwood Arts Festival, held April 11 through 30, 2012, in and around Knoxville, Dogwood Trails showcase the year’s blossoms through some 60 miles of breathtaking landscaping, rainbow-hued flowers and blossoming trees. (The scenery is available for touring and photography, compliments of the homeowners.)

Road Trips Gardeners can explore by way of a leisurely stroll, bicycle ride, Sunday drive or a professionally-guided bus tour (trail maps are available online).

In addition, there are all sorts of special events, including “Bikes & Blooms” on April 28 and 29, 2012, when bicycles are the only means of transport allowed.

If you’re passing through Knoxville earlier in the year, consider a stop at the Dogwood Arts House and Garden Show, set for February 17 through 19, 2012.
