“Go Native” in Gainesville
The 2011 Spring Native Plant Sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Morningside Nature Center, 3540 East University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, on both April 8 and 9, 2011.
It’s said to be the largest offering of native plants in North Florida, and the only drawback is that purchases must be made by cash or check only (no credit cards accepted).
There’ll be free expert plant advice at the Florida Native Plant Society booth, free “Park-A-Plant” service so Road Trips for Gardeners can shop hands-free (our purchases will be tagged and stored — and we’ll get help to load ’em in the car when it’s time to leave). And, there’s a free naturalist-led wildflower walk at 11:30 a.m. April 9.
The sale is hosted cooperatively by the City of Gainesville’s Nature Operations Division of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Payne’s Prairie chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and Friends of Nature Parks.
