It’s Snowdrop Week at Altamont Gardens, Tullow, County Carlow, Republic Of Ireland. Today through February 20, 2011, the delicate white blossoms should be at their peak. At 2 p.m. each day, the head gardener will lead tours to see the early spring flowers.

Altamont Gardens are a blend of formal and informal gardens, with riverside walks covering over 40 acres. Lawns bisected by sculpted yews slope down to a lake surrounded by rare trees and lead, in turn, to a very different garden, featuring exotic shrubs and trees. The gardens are open for viewing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with free admission. The tours are €2 per person. Can’t make it to Altamont for Snowdrop Week? Daffodil Week will be March 28 through April 3, 2011.
