Driving off to Florida, snowbirds? If you’re passing through Atlanta the first weekend in February, consider stopping off for the all-day Perennial Plant Symposium set for February 5, 2011, at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Avenue NE, Atlanta, Georgia.

It’s intended as a day of inspiration and learning about how to create your ideal “pleasure garden” — a place that is a sanctuary of textures, fragrances, sounds and other sensory delights. It’s presented in partnership with the Georgia Perennial Plant Association.

Of course, you’ll have to decide quickly, Road Trips Gardeners, because the registration deadline for the 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. symposium is January 31, 2011.

This year’s featured speakers are Dan Benarcik, Jason Powell, Erica Glasener, John Manion and Cole Burrell.
