Balmy weather comes early in North Carolina, and Poplar Grove Plantation takes advantage of the season by scheduling its 20th Herb & Garden Fair for March 26 and 27, 2011. This annual rite of spring takes place at 10200 US Hwy 17 North, Wilmington, North Carolina.

Road Trips Gardeners will be able to choose from an abundance of fresh, locally grown plants, shrubs and trees, along with everything garden related: one-of-a-kind bird baths, stained glass, patio furniture, goat’s milk cheese, porch enclosures and unique handmade gifts.

Classes in cooking, gardening and the arts take place in the Cultural Arts Center plus there’ll be an Audubon Bird Hike through Abbey Nature Preserve.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 26, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 27. Admission fee for adults is $5.

Poplar Grove Plantation, a non-profit organization, preserves the homestead of a successful farming family, the outbuildings and crafts typical of an 1800s era working community.
