The annual Monster Tomato and Pepper Sale in Fullerton, California, promises more tomato and pepper varieties than ever before.

At the last sale, there were more than 230 varieties of tomato plants, including Clint Eastwood’s Rowdy Red, Brown Berry and Purple Brandy.

Some 75 varieties of pepper plants were on offer then, including the popular Hottie (extra large orange color habanero-type peppers) and the fabled Bhut Jolokia — the “Ghost Chili” rated as the world’s hottest with an official Scoville heat rating of 1,001,304.

If you’re driving in California in March, Road Trips Gardeners, consider swinging by the sale between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. March 18-20, 2011, at the Fullerton Arboretum, 1900 Associated Road, Fullerton, California. Just don’t drive back home through Arizona!
